Services Librarian is responsible for planning, 
implementing and evaluating all children and young adult 
activities.Example of Duties: creates an environment in the

enjoyable and convenient use of library resources; designs, 
promotes, executes, and evaluates programs for youth birth 
to age 18; contracts with skilled resource people to 
present specialized programming for children, teens and 
parents; provides outreach programs; purchases materials 
based upon consultation of a wide variety of reviewing 
sources; identifies outside sources of funding and writes 
effective grant applications; participates in all aspects 
of the library planning process to represent and support 
youth services; acts as liaison with other agencies in the 
community serving children; utilizes effective public 
relations techniques and media to publicize library 
activities; participates in professional organizations to 
strengthen skills, interact with fellow professionals, and 
to contribute to the profession. Circulation desk and 
cataloging duties as needed. May be required to supervise 
the library in the absence of the Library Director
Job Environment: work is performed in a typical library 
environment, which can be very hectic at times. Errors 
could result in delay of patron satisfaction and adverse 
public relations. Some evening and week-end hours are 
required.

Administrative Fellowship Program

Harvard University seeks to attract candidates, especially
those from underrepresented ethnic minority groups, and
those committed to addressing the underrepresentation of
ethnic minorities in university administration, to
administrative careers in higher education.  Applicants must
have at least five years of work experience.  The 2012-2013
Administrative Fellowship Program seeks applicants with B.A.
degree and backgrounds in athletics/sports management,
information technology, alumni affairs and development
(conference planning and/or fund raising), research
(behavioral sciences), finance, human resources (employment
and compensation), or library science and management. 


    *Fellows receive stipends and are placed in full-time
work assignments in Harvard schools


          or central administration departments for the
duration of the Program. 


    *Seminars, lectures and case studies have been designed
for the Fellows to enhance management and administrative
skills, self-assessment and career development.

    *Evaluation of the applications will be based on
professional achievement, interviews at Harvard, and
suitability for the Program.

<description>Assumption College seeks a dynamic and innovative librarian
to provide a full range of reference and information
literacy services designed to support the curriculum and
research needs of the College community. The incumbent will
help library users clarify their information needs and guide
them in locating, evaluating and using print and electronic
resources. He or she will collaborate with faculty to
integrate information literacy instruction with the
curriculum, designing activities and assignments and
conducting class sessions that help students develop
information literacy competencies. He or she will design
research guides, Blackboard components, tutorials, and other
online learning modules for reference and information
literacy teaching/learning support. The incumbent will
assist in development of the Reference Collection and
independently serve as liaison to one or more academic
departments.

This is a permanent position and the incumbent works 17.5
hours per week, 40 weeks per calendar year; he or she must
be willing to work one evening per week during periods when
evening reference hours are scheduled, and an occasional Sunday.

<description>Small, nationally renowned vehicle and consumer product
safety research firm currently has an opening for a research
librarian.  This is a great opportunity for someone with an
MLS or MLIS and 1-3 years of library or information center
experience, preferably in a corporate or other special
library setting. The successful candidate is able to
research, acquire, and organize in-house and outside library
resources, and assimilate those materials into written
summaries.  

A research librarian is expected to locate, organize, and
summarize documents and present his or her findings to the
project manager.  The candidate must have a strong
background in Internet search strategies, technical and
medical databases, and other publications. Government and
legal research skills are preferred.

This position does not require technical understanding of
the subject material; however, it does require good reading
comprehension skills and the ability to succinctly
communicate information.  The research librarian must be
flexible and have the ability to work and learn
independently, manage deadlines, and coordinate with others
on projects.  The successful candidate will be comfortable
working with librarians at other institutions as well as
vendors of various materials we purchase for our collection.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and
Office experience, are a must.

This is a full time position located in our Rehoboth, MA
office, approximately 8 miles east of Providence, RI.  We
provide a stimulating, fast paced work environment, two
weeks vacation and one bonus week over the December
holidays.  Salary is commensurate with experience and
skills. Healthcare and the option to participate in a 401K
plan are also part of the compensation package.
