Strategic Planning
On February 14, 2012, Governor Patrick signed Executive Order 540 which requires strategic planning and performance management for all executive departments. Building on the Administration’s commitment to improving government performance, accountability and transparency, E0 540 calls on state government to align resources with strategic goals and utilize objective performance measures to demonstrate results.
The Board of Library Commissioners embraces the concept of performance management and we engaged in the process in order to tell the story of how libraries contribute to the development of our Commonwealth.
The Board’s Strategic Plan-in-Brief 2013-2015 builds on recent planning activities to articulate goals and activities necessary to meet the evolving information needs of the residents of Massachusetts. It also offers specific measures of success. The plan will be updated annually so that a continuous three-year plan will be in place to guide our work.
