Coinciding with Preservation Week from the American Library Association (April 24-30, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/preservationweek.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/preservationweek.org\/<\/a>) and MayDay from the Society of American Archivists (May 1, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www2.archivists.org\/initiatives\/mayday-saving-our-archives\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www2.archivists.org\/initiatives\/mayday-saving-our-archives<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ryan Kidder, The Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC), Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MHEC (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhec.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.mhec.net\/<\/a>) is a nonprofit purchasing consortium established in 1977, available to libraries in Massachusetts and throughout New England. Members have access to previously negotiated contracts and services, and in this session, Ryan will describe MHEC services and discounts available for disaster response in libraries. They include general stabilization and restoration, as well as for specific formats like electronics and special collections or archives. Ryan will also briefly outline the MHEC process that can help you find the vendor\u2014and MHEC contract\u2014for your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amy Fang Lannon, Reading (MA) Public Library, Director <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading Public Library recently completed a total revision of their emergency plans. Amy will describe the experience, with practical ideas and tips. She will outline how RPL collaboratively found and addressed gaps in policy related to emergencies, such as building closing and evacuation, medical emergencies, logistics, and communication.
