Coordinator of Technology & Technical Services, Belmont Public Library (Belmont)

The Belmont Public Library is seeking a seeking a Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services to join their team. The Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services plans, coordinates, reviews and supervises two major functional areas of the Belmont Public Library: technology and technical services. The work is performed under the direction of the Library Director, and assists the Library Director in overseeing day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities include acquisition, cataloging, processing and withdrawal of library materials, development and administration of specific budget lines as well as supervising the technology and technical services staff who are responsible for management of technology infrastructure and technical services processes. The Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services plans, organizes, assigns and manages the work activities of department staff to achieve department goals. In the Library Director’s absence, the Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services will regularly serve as Acting Library Director on a rotating basis or as circumstances dictate with the Coordinator of Public Services. This position serves as the technical liaison to the Minuteman Library Network for needs related to technology.

Additionally the Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services is responsible for the oversight of server support and routine system maintenance. This position will work with Town and School IT professional to identify opportunities for collaboration. The Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services maintains current knowledge of reference materials, research methods, online database and Internet use and will work on the Reference Desk as part of the professional librarian rotation.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school with three to five years of library, technology, and technical services experience. Two years supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of library work principles and practices, use of library resources and information technology, and automated library systems.

This is a full time 35 hour per week position covered under a collective bargaining agreement with the Belmont Librarian’s Association. The starting hourly rate is $36.687 for FY 2020 and qualifies for the Town’s comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and life insurance, paid vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave. This position also qualifies for the Town’s pension plan.
