Circulation Supervisor, Sharon Public Library (Sharon)

Manages the operations and personnel of the circulation department; supervises, trains, and instructs staff and volunteers on circulation tasks.

Performs all work related to the adult circulation desk; opens and closes the library; checks materials in and out; performs and oversees the patron notification process concerning reserves and overdue records; resolves a variety of problems related to equipment and patrons, registrations, etc. Processes and prepares reports as required including Old Colony Library Network-generated reports. Shelves books and materials when necessary. And other duties as required.

Assists staff with circulation procedures; keeps staff informed about changes in circulation requirements, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

Recommended Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:

Associate's Degree in liberal arts or related field or a combination of coursework and experience equivalent to a 2-year degree; a bachelor’s or master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience working as a library assistant is required. Must have experience working with and utilizing basic computer skills. Prior supervisory or management experience is desirable. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Proven ability to work as part of a team.

Salary Notes

Salary increases are in 10 steps annually as part of union contract negotiations
