Page, Lynnfield Public Library (Lynnfield)

The Lynnfield Public Library is looking for a part-time Page. The Library Page performs duties involving reshelving and shifting of Library materials (including books, periodicals, media, and other items) in specified order throughout all areas of the Library (including adult, teen, and child areas). 

The main responsibilities of the Library Page include shelving Library materials in all formats in Library of Congress classification order, shelf reading for misplaced items, shifting collections to make room on shelves, taking inventory of assigned stack areas as needed, keeping materials neat and presentable, and carrying out additional projects as assigned.  The Library Page may occasionally be requested to work on projects in various departments of the Library.  Library Pages work at least 4 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours.  Substitute hours may occasionally be available in addition to regularly scheduled shifts.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet MA work eligibility requirements; Attention to detail; ability to shelve materials efficiently and orderly; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with library patrons and coworkers; ability to work independently; and ability to follow oral and written instructions are essential. Familiarity with the general organization of our Library and the Library of Congress classification scheme a plus!

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, and use hands to grasp, operate or control tools, hear and talk.  The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds and push a cart full of books.  The employee must be able to navigate all areas of the Library, and stand or move for up to two hours.  This position requires the ability to maintain focused eyesight for up to two hours.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
