Adult Services Supervisor, McArthur Library (Biddeford, ME)
McArthur Library, a historic and vibrant community hub in Biddeford, Maine, is seeking an Adult Services Supervisor/Librarian to lead our Adult Services department. Since 1863, we’ve been committed to lifelong learning and cultural enrichment, offering a wide range of resources, programs, and services to our diverse community. We are looking for a dynamic leader to oversee our Adult Services team and drive exceptional customer service, program development, and community engagement.
In this role, you will:
Supervise and lead a diverse team, including individual staff members focused on Teen Services, Special Collections and Archives, Technology, and Cataloging. Manage schedules and coordinate all professional development opportunities;
Oversee adult collection development, including purchasing, weeding, and managing a range of materials such as books, audiobooks, DVDs, and digital resources;
Design and implement cultural and educational programs for adults, coordinate with presenters, and manage event logistics;
Provide direct library services to patrons.
Qualifications
A Master of Library Science (MLS) degree is preferred but not required, with at least four years of progressively responsible library experience, including staff supervision;
Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience in motivating and managing a diverse team;
Excellent customer service and community relations skills, with proficiency in library software, Microsoft Office, and internet applications.
