$80,619.03 - $108,345.23

The City of Attleboro, a diverse community of 44,000 people in southeastern Massachusetts, is seeking candidates for the position of Library Director, which will become vacant in May, 2018.  The library has an annual budget of approximately one million dollars and maintains a staff of 23 people.

Under the authority of the Board of Trustees, the Director is responsible for carrying out the library goals, guidelines and policies, as well as supporting and advising the board in the execution of its duties and responsibilities.

The library is a department of the City and the Director reports to the Mayor for administrative and budgetary matters.



  Candidates must possess the following qualifications: Masters degree in library and information science from an ALA accredited program and five years of increasingly responsible experience in professional library work to include administration, collection development, library technology and strategic planning. Excellent written and verbal skills are required.  Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and manage staff are also required.  Ability to work with peers, subordinates and diverse groups necessary.
