Technology Supervisor, Watertown Free Public Library

The Watertown Free Public Library seeks a full time Technology Supervisor to manage all library (both staff and public facing) technology equipment and infrastructure. Our busy, mid-sized library serves a diverse community with roughly 32,000 people a month using our facility and services.

Supervision: The Technology Supervisor is responsible for all library technology equipment and infrastructure and supervises one full time Help Desk Specialist. The person in this position will have to work closely with library management and administration to ensure not only that internal operations work adequately but also our public facing equipment and technology services are satisfactory for our patrons’ needs.

This is a 37 hour a week full-time union position and includes occasional after hours responsibilities. The salary is $63,020.25-$75,314.99 in ten steps with generous benefits.


• B.S. in computer science or equivalent.
• M.C.S.E. certification.
• At least three year relevant experience.
• Ability to administer Microsoft and Apple solutions, an active directory domain, group policies, roaming profiles, remote desktop terminal services, firewalls, VOIP, backups, MS Exchange, wireless Internet, wireless printing, scanners, printers, meeting room control systems, library automation systems.
• Customer service driven.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with library management, staff, and patrons.
• Proven project management, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
• Ability to simplify complex technological topics for novices.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective knowledge-based relationships with vendors.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to learn how to administer additional specific applications including building systems, computer time management systems, print payment, RFID, and other library-specific programs and systems.
• Web development skills desired
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to direct and supervise the work of others and the ability to train others
