Children's Librarian, Bolton Public Library (Bolton)

Bolton Public Library seeks a personable, innovative, energetic, creative Children's Librarian.  The Library serves Bolton's 5,760 residents and is committed to enriching patrons' lives by providing opportunities and resources for personal growth, lifelong learning, and community engagement.

The Children's Librarian reports to the Library Director and is responsible for library services to patrons from birth through Grade 6.  Duties include but are not limited to selection and circulation of materials, keeping statistics, and providing information service to library users of all ages; operating a variety of office machines including PCs; building security; interpreting local and library network policies; and attendance at professional workshops and seminars.  Duties also include planning and executing a variety of programs for school-aged young people including baby lap-sit time, story time, craft workshops, book clubs, summer reading/learning and related events.  This position works closely with our Teen Librarian, and requires frequent contact with local schools and parents/caregivers. 

This is a permanent, full-time position of up to 35 hours per week.  Work schedule will include some evening hours and Saturday rotation.  To start, the schedule will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Thursdays noon until 8:15 p.m., and every third Saturday 9:30-2:15.

Approximate start date will be April 8, 2025.

Qualifications

Preferred: Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-accredited institution, library experience, familiarity with social media and changing technology.

Required: graduate of a 4-year college, 1-3 years of related work experience, or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.  Experience with Evergreen ILS. Demonstrated understanding of an automated (PC-based) work environment, excellent written and oral communication skills, satisfactory CORI result.

$25.40 - $33.14  /  hour

Salary Notes

Starting wage is $25.40 per hour increasing in 10 annual steps to $33.14 per hour.
