The Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) is a member-driven library network serving 36 public libraries in the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts. We are seeking an exceptional candidate for the Technology Services Customer Support Librarian (CSL) role. As part of our Technology Services team, you will deliver high-quality training, responsive Helpdesk support, and other services to MVLC libraries. You’ll also contribute to maintaining and improving the systems and technologies that libraries rely on every day.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the go-to person for MVLC’s Helpdesk: coordinate requests, solve issues, and analyze trends to improve training and workflows.
- Update and maintain the online catalog (Enterprise OPAC) and mobile app for member libraries, ensuring they have accurate, up-to-date resources.
- Compile, analyze, and distribute key statistics and reports to support library operations.
- Troubleshoot basic technology issues (PCs, software, and peripherals) and work closely with other MVLC staff to find solutions.
- Provide hands-on training and create documentation that empowers library staff to use new tools effectively.

Excellent communication and organizational skills will be essential to assess member requests and involve the appropriate MVLC team members when needed.

Qualifications
An ALA-accredited MLS is preferred, but we will consider applications from candidates with public library experience who possess the necessary skills and expertise to excel in this role.
Proven customer service orientation.
Positive attitude and flexibility.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
At least two years of public library experience.
At least two years of technical experience with automated systems or databases.
Competence working in a PC environment.
Experience with Helpdesk coordination and ticketing software.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other Web design tools desirable.
