Kids Cast Your Vote!

In this fun campaign kids get to VOTE…for their favorite book! Voting starts October 26 and runs through November 9. Kids will vote on www.KidsVoteForBooks.com which will go live just before October 26. The MBLC will use kids’ votes to create a top 25 booklist and highlight children’s and teen library services. The top 25 will be announced on November 12.

It’s EASY to participate:

There’s a template press release that you can edit and use with local media to announce your libraries’ participation. Materials are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Haitian Creole. Just post on social media and use #KidsVote and www.KidsVoteForBooks.com. Posts before the election should let people know that voting will go live on October 26th.

If you are able to print bookmarks and stickers, you can put them in checkouts and curbside pickups (don’t worry if you can’t do this)

If you are able to print out the poster, hang it in a high-traffic location (don’t worry if you can’t do this)
That’s it! Instruction flyer

Where the book “candidates” came from:
Last summer during Bruins summer visits to the following communities: Andover, Bourne, Braintree, East Longmeadow, Easthampton, Lawrence, Marshfield, Martha’s Vineyard, Melrose, Millbury, Pittsfield, Princeton, and Sheffield, kids gave us their favorite books.  We got hundreds of responses and put them into a comprehensive list. The candidate books came from that list with a few librarian recommendations. Kids will also have the option to write in their book candidate.
