Assistant Librarian (part time) - Youth Services, Harvard Public Library (Harvard)
Harvard Public Library has an immediate opening for a part time Assistant Librarian to work in our Youth Services department.
10 Hours per week. Tentative schedule: Mondays 3:00pm-8:00pm; Tuesdays 4:00pm-8:00pm; and one Saturday a month on a rotating schedule. No benefits.
Responsibilities include providing reference and reader advisory services to patrons in the youth services department; creating book lists and other promotional materials; providing general support to the Youth Services Librarian; assisting with shelf-reading, weeding, curating book bundles, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Successful candidate will possess an MLIS degree from an ALA Accredited Library program (MLIS degree candidates will be considered) with relevant coursework in children's literature. Previous library work and experience with an automated library system preferred. Successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills; be patient, flexible, creative and possess a sense of humor; able to establish good rapport with children, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
