Library Outreach and Access Assistant, Boston College (Boston)
The Burns Library Outreach and Access Assistant works with minimal supervision to support access and outreach activities at the Burns Library.
Responsibilities include:
providing support for in-person instruction sessions, including instruction session set up and take down
instruction session data entry and analysis
assisting the Burns Public Services Team in planning and implementing exhibits, including writing exhibit text and exhibit installation
Conducts detailed historical research to support Burns Public Services outreach and public history initiatives
Assists with the preparation of Public Services communications including newsletters and blog posts
Supports special event planning
Assists the Burns Library Social Media Team in identifying appropriate materials for social media posts, imaging materials, writing social media posts and planning social media campaigns
Assists in staffing the Burns Library Reading Room including monitoring the Reading Room, and assisting researchers in navigating Burns Library finding aids and the Library Catalog
Requirements:
Graduate level work in a subject area relevant to Burns Library
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
Experience performing or facilitating special collections or archival research is preferred
Details about the opening:
Academic year 2024-2025:
Expected 8-15 hours per week depending on scheduling.
This position is hired each academic year, with the possibility of renewing employment for following academic years based on budget, staffing needs, and continued enrollment in a graduate program.
Summer 2024:
Preference will be given to candidates who are available up to 5 hours/week August 2024, during daytime hours: M-F 9am-5pm for training and staffing assistance.
Pay rate is $20.00/hour.
