Covid-19  One Earth Program Description

Since covid-19 I have done a little live online performing and I have been surprised at how well it worked. One 1st grade student listening, took a story I told and made it into a delightful picture book!  I am looking forward to finding opportunities to explore this new territory.

As well, a 66 minute "live recorded family performance" of this show from last summer is available free (with a request for donations) on my website. http://www.johnporcino.com/performance-video.html   This video is currently being edited down to a tighter 40 minute and should be available by mid-June.

One Earth Show Description

This is playful/participatory program of stories, songs and music that celebrates the beauty of the natural world, explores our interconnections with that world and empowers people to take small (or large ) steps, in their lives, to care for the environment.

I've been offering this program in one way or another since I started my career as a storyteller and musician in 1983. It is a perfect match for the 2010 summer reading theme -- "Go Green at your Library."

The program grew out of several years of full time work as an environmental educator, which in turn lead me to co-editing the book "Spinning Tales, Weaving Hope: Stories of Peace, Justice and the Environment". I have given many performances and workshops on these themes for groups including many libraries, Massachusetts DCR, Ashokan Field Campus NY, Educators for Social Responsibility, Audubon Society of New Hampshire, The Lacawac Wildlife Sanctuary PA, The Clearwater Revival NY and The Presbyterian Family Services KN, The Cape Cod Outdoor Education Center'¦

Fee
$425.

No fee is to small in this covid-19 time. Asking only that libraries do their best by me in balance with the funds available for programming at this time.

After nearly 40 full time years, I am one of the clan of family entertainers who have lost all of their gigs and income in this time. We are trying to figure when, how, if we will be able to reshape our careers.  I hope both presenters/sponsors and artist will find ways of working together to take on these challenges.
