Build Your Own Waterwheel! 2010 Summer Reading Program - Go Green at Your Library!
Program Categories
Crafts, Educational Programs
Audience Age
7 and up
Kids can learn about one of the earth's most plentiful renewable energy sources -- hydropower -- by building a waterwheel that really works! In this program, participants will see how water power has been used around the world and right here in the Northeast. They'll look at examples of waterwheels that grind flour, turn machinery in mills, and generate electricity and find out how they work. Then they'll use a selection of materials to design, make and test their own. This program is suitable for ages 7 and up, and can be done indoors or out.
$300. Includes materials. Travel fee beyond 30 miles is $0.50/mile. Ask about discounts for multiple bookings in same area.
