The Bombing of Laos and the Continuing Tragedy of Cluster Bombs
Dr. Walter Haney, Professor at the Lynch School of Education at Boston College offers to give a talk on "The Bombing of Laos and the Continuing Tragedy of Cluster Bombs" at any libraries or churches in eastern Massachusetts. Haney spent more than three years in Laos, 1968-71 and 1975. He is author of two surveys of Lao refugees both published in hearings of the U.S. Senate Committee on Refugees and Escapees. He is also author of an analysis of U.S. involvement in Laos based on the Pentagon Papers 'The Pentagon Papers and the United States Involvement in Laos' in N. Chomsky and H. Zinn (Eds.) The Gravel Edition, The Pentagon Papers, Vol. V: Critical Essays. Boston: Beacon Press, 1972, pp. 248-293. He is now an advisor to the Legacies of War group (http://www.legaciesofwar.org/). Haney's presentation, allowing time for discussion would be 45-60 minutes. If a longer presentation might be of interest, following Haney's remarks there could be a showing of the award-winning film "Bombies"
(see http://www.bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/bombie.html for a description of this documentary film), and a discussion. There would be no charge for either the shorter or longer presentation, but Haney would invite contributions to two charities.
$0. No fee but I will invite contributions to a charity I will explain.
