Description

This interactive workshop focuses on how music can be used as a force for positive social and environmental change. Award-winning musician/educator Mister G plays his original ecologically-themed songs, "Don't Waste Stuff", "Worms," "Pedal People," about the bicycle-powered recycling movement in Northampton, MA, and "Mister Chubby Pants," a tune about an eco-warrior bullfrog. Mister G shares how his music evolves from initial ideas to songs on a CD. During the course of the performance, children are invited to sing, dance, and use their imagination to generate new song ideas.

Mister G (aka Ben Gundersheimer) has a Masters in Education from Smith College, a BA in English from Amherst College, and over twenty years experience as a performing musician and recording artist. A founding member of the Roots Music Collective, a Young Audiences featured act, Ben began blending his love of music and education in the late 1990s. Winner of the first songwriting scholarship in the history of Berklee College of Music, Ben specializes in promoting literacy through song creation. He combines his additional professional experience as a photographer and yoga teacher to create innovative workshops tailored to a wide range of ages, schools, and settings. As a musician, he has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada, and his songs have been featured in television programs around the world. As a photographer, his images have been published in magazines and books, and exhibited in New York City art galleries. A fluent Spanish speaker, Ben’s workshops all contain a multicultural perspective based on his travels around the world.
