THE COMMUNITY MURAL is a project for all ages combining art and science. In this workshop, Robin explains how she creates a painting for books she has illustrated and demonstrates her art techniques. Each student then has an opportunity to make his or her own sculpted paper plants and animals. The mural includes everyone's creations and stays at the school, library, or museum.
Robin has presented this outstanding program nationally for over a dozen years to thousands of school children.

"As a fourth grade teacher, it is wonderful to see a cross-curricular project that really gets students excited. Your presentation really helped to demonstrate the method the students would be using. All of my students have struggled to feel they did not do something correctly and today they all shined. The completed mural can be used to have students continue researching or as a writing piece. Building community is important not only in schools but to prepare our young people as they enter their future jobs and other learning communities. This activity definitely gave our school community something to share together. As a K-8 school, having all of our work together, you can not tell if an item was made by an older or younger student. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed being a part of this day and I know my students will enjoy trying these new illustration methods in the future." --Elizabeth Devanney, Winsted, Connecticut
