Writing with Miss Emily is a writing workshop for authors ages 8-12. Children learn about Emily Dickinson, her life and work and have the opportunity to write their own poetry with prompts that relate to Dickinson.
This workshop works well as a one-time event or as a 3 hour, five-day residency. I also offer a 30 minute interactive slideshow as an introduction to Dickinson that is followed by an hour-long writing workshop.
Emiy Dickinson loved children. When they know this, they want to know more. Perfect for National Poetry Month.
$400.
Fee depends on what program we design together: one 3 hour workshop including slide show or a residency.

Inspiring young authors is one of the joys of writing for children. My most recent book Miss Emily is a verse novel about Emily Dickinson and the children in her life. I have led writing workshops for children throughout New England for the past 20 years. Now that I am retired from classroom teaching, I am a tour guide at the Emily Dickinson Museum. Library and school visits allow me to continue to stay in touch with young writers.
