Description

I am a volunteer firefighter in NH who is writing a series of mysteries based in firefighting. I weave actual calls I've been on, scenes I've worked, and trianing I've done against the backdrop of fictional mysteries. I've been doing presentations about firefighting and writing about firefighting at libraries in NH to great reception.

To quote the librarian from one of my recent talks, "We just had a wonderful Book & Author Lunch with Philip Soletsky. Phil is a physicist and 14-year, decorated veteran of the Brookline, NH Fire Dept. He also has a way with words, and has written a series of mysteries featuring Jack Fallon, a firefighter in a small NH town."

"Most of the fire calls in the books are based on his actual experiences -- although the murders are not! There are four books in the firefighter series out now, as well as a standalone thriller set in Las Vegas, that reads like a screenplay. He came with a brief, informal slide show and lots of stories, and he kept a full house engaged and entertained for a full hour. People stuck around for another hour afterwards, just to keep talking with Phil and Victoria, who answered a lot of questions about being a firefighter's wife. He didn't charge a speaker's fee, but he did sell his books. Highly recommended!"
