MUSIC THROUGH THE DECADES
Recently the Norman Rockwell Museum commissioned David Polansky to develop MUSIC THROUGH THE DECADES, a fun-filled hour in which the audience learns how the last hundred-plus years of American and world history have inspired so many of the songs we love.
Using keyboard, trumpet, and vocals, David presents the music of George M. Cohan, Fats Waller, Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, and a host of others - music inspired by the advent of the automobile, the St. Louis World's Fair, the invention of the phonograph, the two world wars, the invention of radio, the Great Depression, etc.
David engages the audience, taking questions, performing requests, and telling very funning anecdotes about famous musicians as well as some about his own life as a musician.
He even does a Louis Armstrong impersonation that is so convincing, he's often asked, "Was that a recording?"
A career musician, David has played with Sandler and Young, Phyllis Diller, Henny Youngman, Ray Bolger, Arthur Fiedler, The Platters, The Coasters, and many more.
THIS PROGRAM IS A REAL WINNER THAT OFTEN ENDS WITH A STANDING OVATION. DON'T MISS IT!
$500.
David will perform the program for ANY reasonable fee. The suggested fee is $500. Most libraries pay less. The few that pay higher allow me to be charitable with battered women's shelters and the like who occasionally ask me for a "freebie."
