Audience Age
Nancy Bell is a shepherdess, handspinner, historian, and storyteller who brings history to life through her interactive programs. Dressed in carefully researched, hand-sewn, historically accurate clothing, she enchants students of all ages with fun, hands-on "edutainment" they won't forget. Listeners will be given wool from her own sheep to spin into bookmarks for themselves to take home. They will see a variety of antique spinning wheels in action and learn about Colonial women's contributions to winning the war for Independence and how learning to spin created a new, independent, American textile economy that helped ensure the survival of the nation.
