Program Category
Music
Audience Age
Like America itself, old-time traditional music evolved from many cultural influences. In this program, Moonshine Holler will demonstrate the roots and branches of this uniquely American music, from the Scots-Irish fiddle sounds, mixing with the African-derived banjo sounds, through the influences of minstrelry, Vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley, and the advent and popularity of the radio. With their many instruments, including: fiddle, banjo, guitar, harmonica, ukulele and slide guitar, and demonstrations of traditional dance alongside the music, Moonshine Holler presents an energetic and educational romp through old-time American music and dance that involves and enlightens audiences of all ages.
