"The original Carter Family: Alvin Pleasant Carter (A.P.), his wife Sara, and her cousin Maybelle, was a major influence in the development of American country music. Their music, a blend of traditional ballads, blues, gospel, heart songs, and instrumentals, both reflected and shaped the musical tastes of the rural south. They truly are America's first family of country music. In their program "Don't Forget This Song", Moonshine Holler showcases examples, both well-known and obscure, of the Carter Family's vast repertoire, highlighting examples of their music's breadth on two guitars, Hawaiian guitar, autoharp and banjo."
