In 2014, Windborne was one of 10 groups selected by American Music Abroad and the US Department of State to tour Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Angola as cultural ambassadors through music. We performed with internationally known artists, and collaborated with traditional musicians in each country, as well as giving workshops to kids. In this event, we share stories from out trips, some of the songs we sang, and others that we learned from our friends from around the world. If equipment is available, we can show photos of the trip as well. Good for kids and adults, this is a musical trip of cross-cultural understanding that showcases the power of music to reach across divisions, and is sure to bring smiles and questions! A companion to our album Lay Around That Shack, a collection of music we put together for that tour! Watch the video too!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5PDmug9ofU
$400.
We do programs ranging from short 45 minute presentations to full day workshops or even multi day residencies. We know that different libraries have differing resources. In the past we have gotten between $400 and $1500 for similar programing. If we can also arrange local concerts or school workshops, it is easier to come to an area, while if that is the only thing we are doing nearby, it is more expensive as travel costs are not shared. These are not requirements, but just to give you an idea of what is the typical range is. We want to spread this music and message, so let me know what might work for you folks, and we can go from there!
