Each station on the marsh teaches an aspect of the marsh ecosystem as well as an aspect of the science of design. Sample station for instance is when Learning Lark meets Tricky Trout, who is looking for larva among the reeds in the river that runs through the marsh. The shape of the scales on the fish is pasted with a pattern following the natural one on a fish, and basic shapes used in 2d and 3d design is followed in the story.
$250.
Program includes activity 2d design sheet and maker project 3d interpretation of natural patterns, angles, shape, color, textures and interdependence between species in an ecosystem. Photos of real local plant species are also used for meadow understanding. Any Project WILD (DCR walk n sketch) or other trail ed or rail trail nearby is helpful, this program highlights awareness of wetlands in the local area. finding a marsh nearby is helpful to relevance of story.
Children react to the story also with questions about the habitat - what happens to the Lark's marsh friends when the marsh is put out of balance
