Homing Pigeons - A History in Wartime and Peace

Our pigeon journey started when one crash landed in my front yard as a teen. Soon my father had built a coop, collected a rag tag crew of breeding birds, and began training drives in preparation for racing. The sport lives on today and has a rich history in both war and peace time. This class includes live birds, learning how to read bands, how to train for racing, and how the racing clock works.
This program is suitable for the 2023 summer reading theme All Together Now on Kindness, Friendship, and Unity.
