Storytelling & Art Adventures take children on exciting and engaging adventures into the world through picture books and art projects. These workshops emphasize the process of creative expression unique to each child.
In the workshop, participants hear a story and then create individual, multi-media collages. A wide variety of tactile materials are used, inspiring the children to personally integrate the story as their imaginations choose. Throughout the program, each child receives feedback and positive reinforcement for their creative decision-making skills and choices.
Sample programs:
And tango makes three by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell. Read aloud of a true story about a different kind of animal family in the zoo. The project is a super fuzzy and velvety collage with black and white (penguin!) references.
The Mitten by Jan Brett. Read aloud about too many animals packed into a mitten on a snowy day. The story telling features a stretchable knit cap prop, which gets filled with each of the animals featured in the story. The collage project follows the illustrations color and texture themes.

For the 2019 Summer Reading Program theme, I have Jan Brett's Hedgie Blasts Off! available for the program.
Read aloud about a hedgehog who gets an opportunity to fly into outer space and “save the day”. The collage project is full of glitter and “out of this world” materials.
