Are Deaf people disabled or are they simply people who use a different language?  We will let the history of Martha's Vineyard answer this question.  The story of what happened there in a period of 250 years or so is a lesson for all of us - how we think about each other and how we can see the possibilities that can come from adversity and diversity.  In one town on the island, the majority of people adapted to a small minority of people in order to include them in every aspect of life in the community.
