Meet Eleanor Roosevelt in backyard of her home called Val Kill located in Hyde Park NY. It is the summer of 1949. Eleanor has gathered together friends relatives and colleagues for a garden picnic where she will recognize contributions to the World War II victory garden initiative.
Through the use of first person narrative, audience participation and a variety of interesting primary sources the audience will learn about Eleanor Roosevelt's appreciation of the natural world as well as lifelong dedication to humanitarian causes.
The reenactment will be followed by an informative PowerPoint presentation outlining the place of Victory Gardens in American history and their relevance in today ‘s world.
Carol Cohen currently teaches at Lesley University and is a published historian and playwright she owns an educational consulting company and is currently writing the book life lessons from Eleanor Roosevelt.
