Description

The GOP was born in 1854, and Mark Twain was a charter member of its Connecticut Chapter by 1874. But he support Democrat Grover Cleveland as a "Mugwump". This lecture follows his political evolution from slaveholder's son to Civil and Women's Rights Advocate. A portrait of Twain as social critic emerges from an overview of his fiction, essays and speeches.
