Description

Medieval Romp in Song & Story--Perfect for students studying this period of history, or just as a comic romp, all ages enjoy this lively intro and celebration of the Middle Ages. Dressed as a minstrel, Mary Jo appears as if at a medieval banquet. You're the guests as she presents poems, stories and music authentic to and representative of the period. Includes, in part, "Sir Eglamore," comic ballad of a valiant, knee-knocking knight. "The Keeper" is a charming, 600-year-old song of deer "among the leaves so green-o." Both tunes invite the audience to join in on the chorus. During "Sir Eglamore," appropriate belching is encouraged. Medieval tales--The Three Sillies, an Aesop fable, Robert Munsch's Paper Bag Princess acted in the moment by audience children in funny hats and costumes--make for a medieval feast of folklore. Revels dance! Music sung, strummed, fiddled, recordered! Recordered??! This show can be performed with historical information about the Middle Ages, or given as pure entertainment to highlight a summer reading theme. Ask for a wonderful bibliography for kids to learn about the Middle Ages.

Comments

This is a well-managed show full of color, laughs and participation. Bring cameras! "Here's the minstrel's lyre, and you're in its lair. Wake the imagination! The real feast is there."
