Introduction to Meditation

Description

Meditation is being discussed and practiced everywhere these days: doctors’ waiting rooms, boardrooms, locker rooms, classrooms. Scientific study provides evidence that meditation reduces stress and alleviates anxiety. It also sparks creativity, enhances work performance, presents out-of-the-box solutions to problems, provides spiritual enrichment, all the while infusing the world with hope. The current pandemic has made meditation a basic survival tool as we face uncertain futures and unpredictable “new normals.”

There is nothing complicated or difficult about getting started in meditation.  Introduction to Meditation takes the mystery out of this centuries’ old practice by...

Þ     Defining meditation (all time frames)

Þ     Explaining the benefits of daily practice (all time frames)

Þ     Presenting a broad overview of different ways to meditate (all time frames)

Þ     Leading a meditation (60, 75 and 90-minute time frame)

Bio in a Nutshell:  Motivational speaker and author Constance Hallinan Lagan (NY) inspires people to live lives in accordance with their inner calling.  Currently working on a new book, The Magnitude and Simplicity of Life, Connie remains faithful to her own inner voice, and, in doing so, makes others aware of their own inner spirit and empowers them to take “right action” to live in peace, happiness and harmony, whether they are seeking to engage in an entrepreneurial pursuit (Business Development), advance their career (Career Advancement), or enrich their lives through personal growth (Personal Enrichment). Connie’s programs have been sponsored by corporations, government agencies, professional associations, non-profits, women’s groups, healthcare facilities, financial entities, labor unions, churches, support groups, colleges, universities and libraries nationwide. Her byline appears in more than sixty publications. Librarians in Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming have booked Connie’s webinars.

A complete bio, lists of sponsors and additional webinar titles and descriptions are available, upon request.

How it works: The Library hosts the webinar (sets up the meeting and sends the link to me, handles the waiting room and admitting patrons, opens the meeting, introduces me at the start of webinar, passes along chat room questions to me when I request them at the end of the webinar, addresses any tech issues, and ends the meeting). I present the topic "live" (not a recording) and respond to questions. Recording, livestreaming and/or posting the webinar to social media is not permitted. Posting a notice of the upcoming event is fine.
