Description

(Note: this is specifically for Online/Zoom or Slide Lecture Presentation)

In 2020, Andy hand-engraved a full-size replica copperplate of Paul Revere's "Boston Massacre", As part of the 250th Anniversary and Commemoration, which was hand-printed at the Printing Office of Edes & Gill at Faneuil Hall in Boston MA (where Andy works on replicating Revere's engravings), and on March 7, 2020, and as part of the exhibit "Beyond Midnight: Paul Revere" at Worcester Art Museum.

In this presentation, Andy explains how he went about  researching and replicating this plate and print.  Andy's replica is one of the only hand-engraved replicas available today since the Stratton "Fac-Similie" from 1832. Everything Andy did is done exactly the same way Paul Revere did in 1770, using the same methods and materials; Incidentally "copying" Revere the same way Revere copied Henry Pelham ("The Fruits of Arbitrary Power, or the Bloody Massacre").  Other replicas, the story behind Revere's image, and its historical impact can also be discussed.

(note: The Printing Office has since re-located to the Clough House, Unity St. Boston North End)
