An Illustrated History of English Music Hall
Program Categories
Educational Programs, Historical Programs and Characters
Audience Age
Adults
A fun, fully-illustrated lecture on the unique history of the cultural phenomenon known as the English Music Hall, from its humble beginnings in London, to full-flower in the Victorian era, and it's eventual decline. I will sing a couple of popular music hall songs unaccompanied to demonstrate some of the songs of the day, and to highlight Music Hall songs that we still sing today! The tone of the lecture is light-hearted, and the presentation includes a great deal of information of interest. There will be time for questions after the lecture.
$150.
This is a flat fee whether the program is presented virtual or live. If lecturing live, there will be an additional $20 gas charge if travel is expected to take more than two hours roundtrip from Randolph, MA.

This was presented live as a virtual performance at the New England Folk Festival in April 2021 and was well received by over 200 viewers. I have over 30 years of live performance experience and for the past six years I have performed with and managed a Boston-based English Music Hall troupe, The Old Howard Troupe.
