Description

Do you cringe at the thought of making compost? Or was your last attempt just a wet and smelly mess? If you think throwing food scraps in a pile of yard waste and walking away is how to make compost for your vegetable garden, then you need this class. Yes, this heap will decompose after a very long time, a time most gardeners don’t want to wait for.

Decomposition is as old as the soil. Long before man inhabited this earth, composting has been happening naturally on the surface of this planet. Richard Langer once said, “Composting is a natural process that began with the first plants on earth and has been going on ever since."

Composting 101 is the understanding and science (a little) of what compost means, why everyone should do it, ingredients involved, how to speed up the process, and what to do with it. This presentation will also discuss ways to fix problems such as too wet, too dry, and controlling smells.

If you think you don’t have enough ingredients to make compost…think again.
