Discover Furoshiki, the ancient Japanese art of gift-wrapping with textiles, in a rare hands-on playshop via Zoom. Join multi-talented international artist Nefertiti San Miguel from Etnia Fusion and take a cultural journey to learn this singular technique, offered specially for public libraries in the Massachusetts area.
Each participant will use existing materials already available around the house while learning the concepts of Mottainai and Kaizen. Spark your creativity by gracefully swathing items of different sizes in ordinary and unique shapes, such as hexagonal boxes, glass bottles, books, picture frames and more. Master the presentation of elegantly wrapped gifts for any occasion and amaze your loved ones with the artistic form and function of one magical square of cloth.
This is a virtual experience hosted via Zoom. Invitations will be sent at least one hour prior to the start of the program to the email provided at registration. Please be sure to check your clutter/junk/spam boxes if the invite does not appear in your inbox.
Additional Notes:
Nefertiti will conduct the program in a hybrid fashion, teaching master-class style while also tailoring the presentation around the materials each attendee already has on hand.
Prior to the event, participants should gather an assortment of different sized items and shapes to be wrapped.
