Smell and identify fresh herbs. Explore how these herbs may be calming or invigorating. Learn about the benefits of many organisms that are often considered weeds or pests. Compare plants that are considered weeds and flowers, and investigate their similarities. Activities include creating a personal sachet or tea bag of dried herbs. Feel the dry texture of the herbs. What part of the plant do the herbs come from? Examine how the colors of the herbs are different when the plant is dried. Inhale the smell of the herbs and examine what feelings this aroma invites.
Founded in 1983, The Nature Connection has provided programing to those in need of, but cut off from or have difficulty accessing, nature’s healing. The Nature Connection provides therapeutic nature programs that utilize radical respectfulness along with sensory exploration of nature to foster psychological wellbeing, social wellbeing, and the human-nature relationship for participants of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
By recreating natural habitats indoors, we engage the senses and offer hands-on exploration. As participants explore nature, they connect with themselves, their peers and/or caregivers, and nature in new ways. This helps our participants manage and overcome obstacles and improve wellbeing by increasing overall self-confidence, promoting positive social interactions, and decreasing stress and anxiety.
$400.
The Nature Connection offers the opportunity to schedule our programs as an annual series, seasonal series, or one-time visit. We offer different pricing based on the frequency and type of program. We are open to conversations about sliding scale fees if a library cannot afford the full program fee.
