Description

How many signed languages are there around the world?  Why isn't there one signed language for all countries?  Who develops signed languages?  These and many other questions will be answered in this workshop.

The presenter, Manuel Martin, has been a full time ASL teacher for almost 30 years.  He has traveled to Vietnam and studied the signed language of central Vietnam.  He trains teachers of ASL and has been the director of the ASL program at RI School for the Deaf (2001 - 2009) and started the ASL program at Roger Williams University (Bristol, RI - 2004 to 2022) and built it into a minor there.  You will be fascinated to learn about the signed languages of the world.
