Altered books are great for journaling, scrapbooking and artistic expression. Try several altered books techniques to turn a discarded book into an work of art: CUT words of sections from the pages to sculpt your book; CUT and collage words and images into your book to create a ransom note effect; COLOR with markers to strike out some words and highlight others; PASTE embellishments like beads or ribbon onto the cover or into the book, OR decoupage the cover with images and words, to personalize and complete your project. Try one technique or another, or all three! The library will provide discarded books, magazines, and newspapers; gluesticks; and scissors.
