The Story School and Camp Fable present: Library LARPs The stories of history, mythology, and literature have come to life at your local library and we need heroes to save the day. Library guests ages 7 - 17 are recruited into this live-action, role-play experience. Our costumed characters will immerse your guests in an adventure within the library where they will live out historical and literary stories as heroes, use foam sword games to defeat monsters, use books in the library to solve interactive puzzles, and work together as an adventuring party. Themed to Pirates, King Arthur, Lord of the Rings, or Greek Mythology, we will transform the library into a magical realm where villains roam and heroes are born.

We will need two spaces (a game space and discussion space) and permission for the guests up to 12 at a time to walk through the library proper to research books. For the game space, we will need 500 square feet of floor space to conduct our foam sword games. For the discussion space, prefer a space large enough for 13 people (small conference room) to sit -- even if its just the floor -- and solve riddles and present mini book reports.

We are very flexible on the discussion space requirements and have used less frequented corners of the library, outdoor spaces, and small conference/reading rooms. The secondary goal of this educational LARP program that immerses guests in literary stories is to promote library literacy encouraging them to explore and learn how to use their local library.
