Description

Anxiety is at an all-time high. For a variety of reasons, there is extreme uncertainty about the future. Uncertainty creates fear, and fear leads to anxiety for so many of us. What's worse is that anxiety generally goes untreated. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), anxiety is the most common mental illness in the U.S., but only 36.9% of people diagnosed with anxiety receive treatment. The rest often suffer in silence. Wendy has made it her mission to do something about that. To that end she offers a 45 minute research-based program of practical, simple anxiety-busting techniques people can put to work instantly to ease their worries and stress, and then continue to use to bring a long-term sense of peace into their lives. Her goal is to create a memorable event that brings people together to begin their healing process, to have them leave with a sense of community, and with an action place for how to manage their anxiety in the future. This session will be a natural extension of what your library offers - valuable information, the safety of nonjudgment and a sense of belonging for patrons of all ages.
