There is no doubt that the Printing Press, and rolling press, helped start the American Revolution, through newspapers, pamphlets, and graphics like Paul Revere's "Bloody Massacre", but, Printing has been involved in revolutions and rebellions since its very start. This presentation focuses primarily on revolutionary printing in the New England Colonial period (1638-1787), with a brief look at the technology, the prints, and the printers that spread ideas of rebellion and revolution from 1440-1690. Live In-Person program can include a display table with prints, plates, type, tools, press scale models, etc. Audience will have a chance to examine these after the program.
