We are Donnie and Aleah Lombard, a husband-and-wife team, authors, co-owners of Lombard House Publishing, and the creators behind the Barton Rakewell’s Puzzling World logic puzzle book series for adults. We specialize in developing puzzle books that challenge the mind while providing a fun and engaging activity. Through the years of creating our books, we found that a lot of people are intimidated by the prospect of learning how to do these fun puzzles. Seeing this situation over and over gave us an idea: to offer a workshop that teaches people how to solve logic puzzles! That is when we designed Barton Rakewell's Brain Teaser Boot Camp! Our workshop is designed to introduce adults, of any age and skill level, to the joy and benefits of solving logic puzzles. We offer two classes: a one hour deep dive into one puzzle type or a ninety minute overview of three popular puzzle types. The session begins with a brief introduction to who we are, followed by an engaging discussion about why logic puzzles are important. We discuss the neurological, cognitive, mental, emotional, and social benefits that puzzles provide to our health and cognitive longevity, and how they help keep the brain sharp. From there, we guide participants step-by-step through solving popular types of logic puzzles. The puzzle types that we offer are: Sudoku, Cryptograms, & Word Jumbles. We also provide flexibility to include additional puzzle types upon request. Each participant receives a workshop packet to use during the session and take home for further practice. Please book classes a minimum of 3 weeks in advance.
