Author Tanya Lee Stone loves talking to kids about writing. She can do 3 presentations a day, and each one is 45 minutes long. Her most popular talk is How An Idea Becomes a Book. This interactive presentation allows kids to see the step-by-step process of putting a book together with the help of visual materials such as book dummies and cover mock-ups. As Tanya walks them through a book coming to life, children guess what might be missing and what needs to come next. She also shares her typical day as a writer with kids and engages them in conversation about how they come up with their own ideas for their writing. Kids also have a chance to ask general questions.
This talk can be modified for different age groups, ranging from kindergarten to high school.
Stone is the author of nearly 80 books, most recently the Young Adult novel A Bad Boy Can Be Good for a Girl (ages 14 and up), published by Random House/Wendy Lamb Books, Jan 2006.
She can do three presentations a day, with a 15-minute break in between. Please email Sharron McElmeel at mcelmeel@mcelmeel.com for further information about fees and scheduling. If you prefer to email Tanya directly, you may do so.
