Description

A multimedia presentation explores the exotic, far-off Himalayan kingdom of Nepal through the country's folk literature. The two tales dramatized are from my book FROM THE MANGO TREE, a collection of folktales from Nepal. "The Uttis Tree," a pourquoi tale, is performed as a shadow show, and "Queen Lakshmi and the Vat of Sticky Tar," a nonsense tale, is enacted as tabletop object theater. A marionette representing the Hindu god Bhairab dances to Nepali music to conclude the performance.
