Jumpin' Juba, a piano/guitar blues duo, presents a concise overview of early to modern blues styles and songs. We show the audience how one might arrange a simple blues for piano, for open-tuned slide guitar, and for piano/guitar duet (or trio, if we add drums.) We present our own arrangements of a few classic blues tunes from Mississippi, New Orleans, Chicago, as well as a taste of Memphis r&b. We briefly discuss the history of each tune before singing and playing. We highlight some of the major blues stylists, playing examples of their work, or new tunes that are influenced by the old masters. We take questions from the audience, and possibly even a request for a tune. We select from a wide variety of moods, but we keep the whole program family-friendly. Collectively, Steve (guitar/vocal) and Bruce (piano) have a couple of dedades experience as performers. Since 1996, We have played at over 250 locations, including concerts, coffeehouses, restaurants and summer "town green" performances. We have our own CDs of original and traditional blues.
$350. Amount quoted above is for trio performance, duo plays for slighly less.
