This lively performance introduces library audiences to this pivotal Middle Eastern culture. Featuring Diane's first book: A Fire in My Heart: Kurdish Tales, Diane brings to life Kurdish stories she gathered in the mountains of Kurdistan including "The Lie," a humorous story about a tall tale contest between an Uncle and his nephew, "Fatima," the Kurdish Cinderella story and tales of how the moon and the Milky Way came to be. Photos of the region, a map, anecdotes of her travels, traditional dress and a participatory dance round out our exploration of this little known culture.
Diane's volume of stories, A Fire in My Heart, is the first collection of Kurdish folktales to appear in English.

Diane is a gifted storyteller sharing fascinating tales from the Kurdish people. She has a wonderful stage presence and beautiful voice. We most appreciated all of the interactive elements she prepared. It was a pleasure working with Diane and hope to have another opportunity in the future.” Wendy Dodek, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA
