Programming and Community Engagement Manager - Librarian II, Cary Memorial Library (Lexington)

Cary Memorial Library is seeking a dynamic, curious, and self-motivated librarian to join our team as Programming and Community Engagement Manager. Are you looking for a programming position at a library where fun is a core value and where budgets and community interest allow us to take risks and dream big? If so, this may be your next job!

We’re looking for an individual with strong customer service skills, a demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team setting, and the desire to work positively with a diverse constituency. Our ideal candidate will lead a talented staff who are passionate about bringing ideas into being. Sometimes that means developing a new thematic series or exhibition  from the ground up, sometimes it means amplifying the work of local residents and groups, and sometimes it means being a safe space for challenging community conversations. We program both for joy and for purpose.

On January 27, 2019, the Cary Memorial Library celebrated 150 years of service to a marvelous, diverse community that LOVES and supports its library. Come join us and help write the next chapter in our proud history.

Schedule: This position is full time (37 hours/week) with one evening/week and every 4th Saturday. Schedule may be flexed based on programming needs. This is a union position.
